I've never been what you would call obsessed about cleaning. If I go to someone else's home, I want to know that whatever surface I put my hand on will show signs of being cleaned in the last week or so. If they have animals, make that "the last day or so".
I'm not a clean freak but food crusted on things other than dishes in the sink really turns me off. With that having been said, I met the owner of a house cleaning company not long ago. Very nice woman who has a team of 6, and who has been in the business for 22 years. I wanted to see what her take was on Shaklee's cleaning products, so I asked her and her team to try them. I wanted her very honest opinion--do they stand up to what's currently available at Walmart/Costco/etc? She used them for a week and then we sat down together. She loved them all. What she liked the best--listen up if you don't like to drag things like this around your house--was the fact that you could use 1 product to replace about 5! She realized how much money she could save just by buying the one product (Basic H2). We like each other. We scheduled her to clean the floors and bathrooms in our home. Here's where I get to the "What is that SMELL?" part--she used, at my request, all of Shaklee products when she cleaned but the gal with her pulled out "Pledge"! For 3 years my nose has only know Shaklee cleaners in our home (when they are needed), so this smell from the past was an unwelcome visitor! I was kind and didn't rip the can from her hand, but did make it known that they were only to use our unscented cleaners. When you think about it, the only smell I want in my home is from fresh flowers on the table or fresh air in the windows. Clean doesn't have a smell. My two cats can attest to that! Carry on.

Well, here we are! I feel kind of bare, kind of like I'm floating out in space and everyone can see me from every angle. I guess everyone who writes one of these blogs feels that way. We are on display with our thoughts. I'm glad you've chosen to float along with me for awhile. I know we'll learn from each other.
I guess I'm writing because I want to share something with you--whoever you are. Give you something to think about-to mull over. Maybe this is something that you thought of briefly once and then never gave another thought to. I'm talking about toxins that we live with everyday. Let's for the record say that I'm not a lunatic. I understand that all of us to some degree get dirty, touch things that we shouldn't, drink things we think are safe---and we don't really think much about it. Hey, if it wasn't safe, they couldn't sell it--right? WRONG!
I want to say upfront that I love the Earth. I want it to be a place of beauty for all of my days here and many, many million generation after I've gone on. I was raised to put trash in the trashbag when riding in the car, and not throw it out the window. I was raised by parents who lived frugally, and the used butter tubs made their way to the fridge as containers for leftovers. I don't throw myself down in front of forests that are scheduled to be cut down. I don't ride around in boats in a sea full of whales in hopes of stopping a killing. I believe in changing the consciousness collectively. I believe that we have enough people here on Earth who care about "the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees" that we will have a positive, powerful impact on the quality of all life.
I also want to say up front that I work as an independent distributor for the Shaklee Corporation. Okay, get over the word "corporation" and listen to what they are about. Shaklee has been in existance since 1965 when Forrest C. Shaklee, a chiropractor, listened to his patients and decided to continue making the vitalized mineral supplements he had been providing for many years. He had realized early in his life that nutrition was the key to a long and healthy life. Many ailments, in his opinion, were caused by the lack of necessary nutrients in the body. After a long career as a chiropractor, Dr. Shaklee was ready to retire, until his patients pointed out that there weren't any companies that could, or would, produce the fine supplements he had provided. He and his two sons started Shaklee. You can read a little more about us, and see our faces under "About Me" on our website at www.SharingHealth.net.
I'm not going into all of that. If you Google Dr. Shaklee you can come up with more that enough info to keep you busy. I just want to say that I am proud to carry on his legacy by providing awesome products to a population who is slowly realizing their value.
My husband, John, works in water. He is responsible for the quality of water that comes out of businesses and goes back into the city water system. He is like a cocker spaniel in a mud puddle--he is in his element, so to speak. I guess you gathered from the title of this blog, that there are things that can kill us without us really being aware.
I dated John for about a year before we got engaged. I remember sometime in that year I was re-using a plastic water bottle. I worked for the airlines, and I was always drinking water--my own or the water company's, because I knew I didn't want to drink the water from the holding tanks on the airplane. Anyway, John commented that it wasn't really safe to drink water from a soft plastic bottle. He being the water expert explained that the plastic leached into the water, and I was basicly drinking liquid plastic. Yuck! Lesson number One. (we now use stainless steel and drink water from home as much as possible. More lessons to come.
